Many people assume, due to the popularity, that the original Snow White story was told by Walt Disney in the 1937 film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. However, this film was based on folklore collected and written down by the Brothers Grimm (Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm). The story of Snow White was known in many European countries and some even think (but this is not proven) that it first originated in Asia. The Brothers Grimm collected the tales of Snow White, as they did with many other tales, and titled the story "Schneewittchen und die Sieben Zwerge". This is translated to English as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves". Many refer to the story as "Little Snow White" or just plain "Snow White".
